Chapter 63 Dare to Kill!
Liu Meiqi asked in disbelief, “Zhou Minghu really dares to kill?”
Lin Huai replied in a serious tone, “If the situation is one in which he doesn’t need to take any responsibilities, he really might dare to do so. However, it must be under the circumstance where he is being severely pressured because the loss of a human life would cause the school a lot of trouble.”
“Yes, cases that involve death are not small matters,” Gao Mengchao also admitted it by saying that. “When a dog feels threatened, it will just run away, but Zhou Menghu is a tiger; he will do the unthinkable if he is being pushed to his limits!”
Gao Mengchao took out a photograph from her pocket and flicked it toward Lin Huai like a ninja star. Lin Huai grabbed it and was taken aback; Gao Mengchao was quite strong as the photo that flew over packed quite a force. It seemed that many people had underestimated Gao Mengchao; she actually knew kung fu.
Gao Mengchao was not even surprised when she saw Lin Huai catching it with ease. She simply said calmly, “Have a look. Meiqi, you can also take a look.”
Liu Meiqi leaned over to have a look and saw that it was a photo of a deceased man. He looked like he was 18 or 19-year-old and his face was dark; his eyes that were wide open were filled with pain and despair, and blood was also coming out from his eyes, ears, nose and mouth.
As soon as Liu Meiqi saw the photo, she immediately squatted down and started vomiting. On the other hand, the expression on Lin Huai’s face did not change at all as he tossed the photograph back to Gao Mengchao. He looked at Gao Mengchao and asked curiously, “Why did you show me this?”
Gao Mengchao replied calmly, “When I just started my freshman year, ‘Yin Hu’ [1] Chen Gang was not among the Four Red Canes under Zhou Menghu. At that time, Chen Gang’s position belonged to that person in the photo who died. He was called Wang Wei, all brawn and no brains like a wild tiger, so he was given the nickname ‘Tiger Cub’. He ranked fourth in the Four Red Canes. However, his family had some issues later; his mother had fallen ill and he needed cash urgently. He secretly took for himself all the protection fee that was supposed to be given to Zhou Minghu for a few months, but in the end, he was caught.”
Liu Meiqi asked, “So he was beaten to death, just because of this?”
Lin Huai replied indifferently, “It is obvious that he didn’t die from a beating; he died from poisoning. Did Zhou Minghu poison him?”
Gao Mengchao answered, “After his actions were exposed, he was beaten up brutally and was sent to the hospital. There was a greater Big Boss in the sports major that time. Perhaps the Big Boss felt threatened by Zhou Minghu, and that was why he took that chance to persuade Wang Wei to join him. Nobody knew if he managed to persuade Wang Wei but they only knew that the Big Boss was being very attentive to Wang Wei at that time.”
Lin Huai smiled coldly as he replied, “If he was being very attentive toward Wang Wei, then it could only prove that he didn’t manage to persuade him. If he did, why would he even care so much about a person with such a minor role since he had an even higher status than Zhou Minghu?
“You’re right. Everyone thought the same thing at that time. Although Wang Wei was beaten up quite badly, he did not hold a grudge toward Zhou Minghu and had no intentions of betraying Zhou Minghu. Nevertheless, Zhou Minghu had his suspicions and it had been rumoured that he had threatened Wang Wei a few times, and even used Wang Wei’s mother, who was hospitalized to threaten him. When faced with such a situation, anyone would start to worry and so naturally, Wang Wei panicked at that moment. There was a rumor that the two of them had a heated argument and a few days after Wang Wei was discharged, he was poisoned to death.”
Lin Huai asked, “Who was the one that poisoned him?”
Gao Mengchao replied, “Wang Wei had no weaknesses but he had something in common with Yin Hu; he was a womanizer. He was poisoned when he was doing it with another student and the student later vanished without a trace. However, there is something that is worth noting. At that time, there was an idler in the sports major who had a few students under his lead and the girl who poisoned Wang Wei was one of them. The idler was not just some random person, it was ‘Yin Hu’ Chen Gang who replaced Wang Wei’s position.”
Lin Huai took a deep breath and asked, “You’re not making this up right?”
Gao Mengchao laughed. “You can ask the seniors. This is something you freshmen have never heard of, only the seniors. They all know that deep down inside, but they just didn’t dare to say it out in the open. Even the police couldn’t find any evidence.”
Lin Huai’s chest was filled with rage. The deceased was only an eighteen or nineteen-year-old college student. And that girl, he didn’t even know if she had fled or she had died
This was a college and they had yet to even step into society. How could they be so cold-blooded? How could someone’s heart be so evil at such a tender age?
Lin Huai was not just angry, he was more disappointed; disappointed at Yulan College. Was Madam Wei doing the right thing when she established this college in the first place? Yes, Madam Wei was definitely doing the right thing, it was these later generations that were at fault; it was the students and the caretakers of this college that were at fault.
A daunting look gradually appeared in Lin Huai’s eyes and when Gao Mengchao saw it, her expression turned into one of shock. She could immediately feel an unnamed terror emerging in her heart; it was the same feeling she felt from Zhou Minghu’s gaze. However, she could feel an even greater intensity in Lin Huai’s gaze; it was hair-raising, like the gaze of a beast.
Gao Mengchao was a Big Boss after all; she regained her senses shortly and calmly said, “So do you understand what kind of person Zhou Minghu is now? I must admit that you have surpassed my expectations from all aspects but it is impossible for you and your people from the computer science major to win against Zhou Menghu by yourselves. If you do not join hands with me, Zhou Minghu will think of a way to get rid of you soon and you will end up losing your life.”
“Yes, someone like Zhou Minghu should not exist in Yulan College; he should not even exist in this world.” Lin Huai’s tone was calm, but that calmness was one that was chilling to the bones.
Gao Mengchao took a deep breath; she was suddenly unsure if she made the right choice. If she helped Lin Huai, would she be raising a gang leader that would be even more terrifying than Zhou Minghu instead?
Nevertheless, she gave it some further thought. Lin Huai was not that terrifying yet but the same could not be said of Zhou Minghu; she abhorred Zhou Minghu, and especially that follower of his, Yin Hu.
Gao Mengchao thought for a moment but she still decided to work with Lin Huai. Thus, she looked toward Lin Huai and said, “The choice is in your hands.”
Lin Huai knew deep down in his heart that what Gao Mengchao had said was true. If he wanted to get rid of Zhou Menghu, he needed Gao Mengchao’s cooperation. If he let the computer science major people fight the sports major so soon, most of the computer science major students would probably turn weak in their knees; even the few tough guys of his would be scared. Except for Wu Jun, it was hard for him to say anything else.
After all, Zhang Chunlei used to keep bringing those sophomore computer science major students to fight with students from other schools so that those in the sports major would fear them; it was to train their courage and that was how he managed to rule the students of the computer science major. However, the people he had now were quite weak, except for those who were once under Zhang Chunlei’s lead.
Nevertheless, should he really take Liu Meiqi as his girlfriend? Even though Lin Huai thought that Liu Meiqi was pretty and not bad for a girl, he would not use such a way to make an exchange. Furthermore, he did not want to be Liu Meiqi’s boyfriend. The only person he cared for the most now was Wei Qimian.
Gao Mengchao lit another cigarette and said with a calm tone, “I will give you some time to consider, until I finish this cigarette. You will only have this one chance. After I’ve finished smoking this cigarette, I want to know your answer.”
Lin Huai looked at Gao Mengchao for a moment and then glanced toward Liu Meiqi. He suddenly let out a smile, and that smile was from the bottom of his heart.
[1] Yin Hu directly translates to ‘Lustful Tiger’, implying that character is a dominant person, yet he is known for his lustful tendencies.
