Chapter 59 Zhang Hongdi’s Worry
On the next day, everyone could feel something abnormal brewing within the computer science major. The class leaders that were gathered by Lin Huai last night had already approached their henchmen and admonished them that from that day onward, they were followers of Lin Huai.
There were some class leaders that willingly submitted to Lin Huai but some of them temporarily compromised out of fear. Nonetheless, Lin Huai had managed to build his reputation as the gang leader of the computer science major.
Personally, Lin Huai had no interest in the position at all. However, Lin Huai had recently slowly come to the realization that there were certain things that he had to do no matter what. These two months were supposed to be a mission to protect Wei Qimian and he never thought that it’d become a mission to conquer Yulan College. Lin Huai realized that things had exceeded his expectation but he did not regret any of his actions. Instead, he felt a passion burn deep within as if his blood was boiling.
As a man, who did not like to do vigorous and dynamic things? Who did not want to achieve something on a grand and spectacular scale?
Lin Huai was filled with boiling passion when he thought of whom he was going up against. Over the years, Lin Huai had met many different opponents. Some of them were killers who did not bat an eye when they murdered someone. However, this time around, Lin Huai was using a different method whereby he combined violence and intelligence. Not only that, he had kept a large portion of his abilities hidden.
Once classes were over in the evening, all the guys from the computer science major ran onto the field for activities. Then, under the orders of the respective class leaders, they lined up in a few rows. The formation was even tidier and neater than they usually were during morning exercise.
Many people had already gathered around to watch although they had no idea what the computer science major was up to.
Even a few leaders from the three big forces of power in the college were starting to get curious at this sight. Liu Meiqi and the big fat woman, Wu Chunli, were seated on a flower bed. Wu Chunli ate a greasy chicken drumstick as she vaguely murmured, “Tell me, do you think this was done by that guy you fancy?”
Liu Meiqi shook her head and said, “I don’t know, I have no idea what’s going on as well.”
Just then, Zhang Hongdi suddenly walked over. He smiled and said, “I heard that Miss Gao clashed with the henchmen of Perverted Tiger again in the past two days?
Liu Meiqi and Wu Chunli looked up and saw that it was Zhang Hongdi and his men. Wu Chunli instantly snapped at them and said, “Who did he think he was? Forget his henchmen, even Perverted Tiger himself is worth nothing to our Big Sister.”
Zhang Hongdi smiled and said, “Ah yes. Perverted Tiger is clueless and dumb, how dare he offend Miss Gao.”
Liu Meiqi sneered and said, “All of you four Yulan Tigers are bad apples. Especially the Perverted Tiger. He is a true asshole and son of a b*tch. He groomed so many of our college students to be prostitutes. There is no shortage of immoral things he has done.”
Zhang Hongdi smiled and said, “Everyone in college wants to earn some extra income. One will provide the opportunity and one will accept the offer. You can’t blame anybody for this. Miss Meiqi, aren’t you also seeing multiple guys at the same time?”
Liu Meiqi leaped off the flower bed and her gaze was ice-cold. She said coldly, “Just because I am seeing multiple guys at the same time, I am equal to the prostitutes?”
“Hahahaha, Miss Meiqi, you have misunderstood, that was not what I meant. What I meant is, for someone like you who has a pretty good family background, you could just choose to date anyone you like. As for girls who have no money and yet wish to spend lavishly, the only method to earn money is by accompanying guys.”
Liu Meiqi snorted and still felt unhappy.
Zhang Hongdi smiled and said, “Anyway, I am not here to squabble with you two. I am actually more curious about what the computer science major people are up to.”
Zhang Jindong whispered, “Brother Di, I am certain this was organized by Lin Huai.”
Zhang Hongdi smiled and said, “Obviously. Who else do you think has the ability to gather all the class leaders here? At this point in time, other than Lin Huai, nobody else has that ability.”
Zhang Hongdi’s eyes flashed and he sort of treated Lin Huai as an extremely large threat. Despite that, he smiled and said, “I kind of admire Lin Huai now.”
Liu Meiqi snorted and said, “You all at the sports major aren’t thinking of fighting him, are you?”
“How could that be!” Zhang Hongdi feigned surprise. “We are satisfied with holding our current territory. It’s not like the entire college is controlled by Mr. Hu alone. Your Miss Gao and the brute from the business major are of the same status as our Mr. Hu. Our Mr. Hu is a generous and tolerant person.”
Liu Meiqi snorted but she did not buy anything that Zhang Hongdi had said at all. Deep down, she was also worried about Lin Huai. On the surface, it seemed like Lin Huai was developing and sailing smoothly. However, in truth, Zhou Minghu had already viewed him as a threat that had to be removed. The only question was when he would take action.
The field was packed with people from the computer science major and there were about a hundred people in total. Just then, Lin Huai arrived and walked toward the field, one step at a time. Behind him were Pu Chengji, Wu Jun, Wu Mengjie, and some others. Once he appeared, all the gazes were on him, including the crowd of bystanders.
Suddenly, everyone on the field faced Lin Huai in an orderly fashion and shouted, “Greetings, Brother Huai!”
Lin Huai had his arms behind his back and stood in front of them. In a loud voice, he said, “Greetings, everyone! Brothers, I am only a transfer student that transferred here less than two weeks ago. Thus, I believe most of you are not convinced by me now that you are all required to address me as Brother Huai.”
“We are convinced!”
“Convinced!”
“I am convinced too!”
“Brother Huai, this position of yours is a meritocracy. Therefore, I am very convinced!”
All the freshmen expressed their thoughts at once whereas the sophomore and third year students were not as enthusiastic. They remained quiet and did not speak a word.
Lin Huai smiled and said, “It doesn’t matter if you all are convinced or not. Most importantly, I need everyone to understand that I am different from Zhang Chunlei. Thus, do not treat me with his standards. First of all, now that I am your big boss, we all have to stay united. I know some of you are followers of my followers. However, that still means that you are my brother. If you all are bullied or beaten up by other people, even if the culprit is from the sports major, feel free to inform me if your leader is not willing to step up. I will help you all!”
Although some of them were unconvinced by Lin Huai, upon hearing his speech, everyone felt warmth flowing through their hearts. They had never experienced the luxury of having such a big boss before. Even their previous leader—Zhang Chunlei—could not do this. As such, the seniors admired Lin Huai a little more.
Zhang Hongdi, who was listening from afar, had a change of facial expression. On the other hand, Liu Meiqi laughed and took a jab at him. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling awkward?”
Zhang Hongdi took a deep breath and forced a smile. “He is just giving an example, nothing much.”
Liu Meiqi snorted. She thought of the rumours that this Intelligent Tiger kept his emotions well hidden and did not reveal them easily. It turned out to be true.
Lin Huai continued, “Secondly, as your big boss, I would not order you all around to handle random matters on a daily basis. There isn’t much for you all to do anyway. I know you all are collecting protection fees and I won’t stop you all from doing so. However, once you all have collected the protection fees, you all are not allowed to bully them, nor allow others to bully them. If somebody bullies them, you all must step up and protect them. This is the principle of life. Do you all understand?”
Everyone was stunned. These so-called protection fees did not mean that they really had to protect those students. In fact, not bullying them anymore was already considered a kind gesture. Who would have thought that now they had to fulfill the obligations of a bodyguard? However, since Lin Huai had already said so, there was nothing they could say. So, they shouted in a loud voice, “We understand!”
Lin Huai also had things planned out and knew that he had to take things a step at a time. If he gave the orders to completely remove the existence of collecting protection fees, these people would definitely go against him. After all, it meant the complete removal of a large portion of their income. Thus, instead of taking such extreme measures, he might as well take things slowly and progress toward the right direction.
“Thirdly, which is also something I had mentioned before. Nobody is allowed to be rowdy during lessons. I want you all to keep a close eye on each other and also monitor the rest of the students. If anyone disturbs the order during lessons, anyone would be allowed to punish this culprit once the lesson was over. If I found out that you all chose to condone this behavior and not punish him, I would punish you all instead!”
Everyone promised and agreed in a hurry.
Lin Huai said, “The reason I became the big boss was not because I am power crazy. I sincerely hope that all of you will be grounded and actually focus on studying and learning. I understand that it is going to be tough for some of you to focus on studying now. However, I also do know that there is a large group of you that actually wanted to learn upon first enrolling in the college. However, due to your surroundings, you all had no opportunity to study peacefully. As such, I am creating a conducive learning environment for you all.”
“Have you all thought of your parents? Have you all thought of what to do after graduation? Are you all really going to be gangsters? Are you all not afraid that your parents will feel embarrassed about it? Are you all willing to accept that even after paying such expensive school fees, you all end up as thugs? It was difficult for your parents to raise you. Have you all not thought of properly repaying them and making them proud of you?”
The students kept quiet as they were all touched by certain things that Lin Huai had said. Most of these students actually really wanted to learn before this. In fact, Yulan College did not accept students who had really bad grades. Yulan College actually only took in students with grades that were close to the cut-off point for prestigious colleges. Therefore, even if the students were not top students, they were most certainly not the types that completely neglected their studies. Everything turned out that way because of their surroundings.
Now that they were given a better environment to learn, why not give it a try?
Lin Huai smiled slightly and said, “Based on your expressions, I can tell that you all understand what I mean. Alright, just to finish things off, from now on, your leaders are still going to be your leaders. The only difference is that you all have an additional boss: me. It doesn’t matter where you all are, keep in mind that you are all my brothers! You cannot get bullied! Not just within the computer science major, but within the entire college as well. Alright, that’s all for now.”
Everyone left, one after another. Zhang Hongdi waved at Liu Meiqi and said, “I will make a move as well.”
As Zhang Hongdi turned around, there was some worry in his eyes. This was not because Lin Huai used the sports major as an example, but was because he just witnessed the people’s attitude toward Lin Huai go from suspicion to trust.
As such, deep down in his heart, he finally regarded Lin Huai as a huge threat. In fact, the threat level had risen by many levels. He got ready to look for Zhou Minghu to have a proper chat about this problem… Perhaps, they should make a move on Lin Huai before he could get a firm footing.
