Chapter 43 Dao Zi’s Betrayal
Dao Zi’s murderous intent was palpable. He had immense potential as well. He also had far greater speed, attacking prowess, and explosiveness than the average person. Lin Huai felt that if Dao Zi had plans to venture into sports, he might even be able to attain an Olympic Gold Medal. However, that was obviously impossible. He was nearly twenty and had not received any professional training.
This time around, his speed shocked Lin Huai. It looked like he had not displayed his actual skills the previous time.
Just as Lin Huai was going to grab his wrist, Dao Zi preemptively dodged and circled around Lin Huai. He seemed to realize that Lin Huai was faster than him.
Lin Huai was shocked. Such tremendous judgment!
As seen from Dao Zi’s battle style, he had not learned proper Kung-Fu before. He relied solely on his combat skills and natural combat instinct. Even so, Lin Huai could tell that Dao Zi’s skills were far stronger than Wei Qimian’s two bodyguards back at the restaurant.
Lin Huai turned around and Dao Zi started circling him, attacking from different angles. Lin Huai said with astonishment, “So this is your true capability. Previously, we were too far apart and you lost before displaying your actual capabilities. No wonder you were not convinced.”
Dao Zi kept quiet and was his usual cold self. His dagger came from tricky angles. He was fierce. The attacking angles were not lethal but it was enough to immobilize Lin Huai.
Lin Huai smiled. “To be honest, you should have done well in biology class, right? At the very least, you have great understanding when it comes to human anatomy.”
Dao Zi remained silent and continued his fast, accurate, and ruthless attacks. The dagger came from everywhere and attacked Lin Huai from all sides.
Normal people watching the fight might not be able to tell what was actually happening. However, they could tell that Dao Zi had greater speed and was more agile than the average guy. Yet, Lin Huai escaped the stabs after prolonged time. This proved that Lin Huai was rather strong as well.
Wei Qimian and the rest eventually arrived. Almost everyone from the entire building had arrived. The male sophomores stood behind Zhang Chunlei. Usually, Zhang Chunlei’s henchmen were limited to a couple of male students from his class—about thirty people. However, a few students from among the freshmen were his henchmen as well. He dared not have large scale recruitment as he was afraid of being targeted by the sports major. Yet, a few of them refused to give up and were adamant about being his henchman. Therefore, he had no choice. The total number of his henchmen amounted to roughly sixty people.
At this point though, there were more than sixty people standing behind him. It looked like a hundred people. The remaining of the sophomores from the computer science major made up the extra people in the crowd. They banded together and were all furious because Lin Huai had challenged them as a freshman.
At this moment, one of the leaders in the sports major, Zhang Hongdi, was seated on a flowerbed far away, smoking a cigarette. Along with him were a few of his henchmen. Zhang Jindong was considered to be the head of the henchmen. The others stood respectfully next to them and only Zhang Jindong had the authority to speak.
As they watched the fight, Zhang Jindong asked respectfully, “Brother Di, who do you think would win?”
Zhang Hongdi stared coldly at the ongoing fight and excitedly replied, “At first, I thought our twin red cane had to come back before we were able to lay hands on Dao Zi. However, who knew that he would face his match today. It does not matter which one of them wins. Either way, Lin Huai would never be able to appear in this college ever again. If Lin Huai loses, he will be hospitalized. And even if he won, Zhang Chunlei’s henchmen would run over him. He will still have to be hospitalized. As long as both of them are wounded, it would be good news for us.”
Zhang Jindong was also elated. He said, “That’s great! That’s great! I cannot wait to see Lin Huai get stabbed to death. Lin Huai is so horrible, he made me lose face in the field a few days ago. I will never forget that!”
Zhang Hongdi said, “Usually, I would have helped you punish him. However, you went ahead and told Zhang Chunlei first. He toyed with Zhang Chunlei before, so I felt like something interesting would transpire. Zhang Chunlei’s life in the computer science major has been too smooth sailing. Even the seniors did not dare to offend him. Under such circumstances, it was the perfect moment to cause him some trouble. This way, he will no longer be a tough opponent of ours. However, I did not expect Lin Huai to be so powerful. He was a huge surprise!”
“More so that he managed to chase Xuan Yuzhai out of college. Even if he lost today, his name will remain.”
Zhang Jindong was shocked. He asked with disbelief, “Xuan Yuzhai was chased out of college?”
“Yes. I learned of this news this morning. Lin Huai might have had something to hold over Xuan Yuzhai. I think he framed Lin Huai for rape and was exposed. I believe there has to be more to the story, but what was it exactly? Xuan Yuzhai would not reveal that to the public.” Zhang Hongdi smiled and continued, “Actually it was a good thing that Xuan Yuzhai was chased away. I did not fancy that dude. He was too flippant. However, if Lin Huai is hospitalized, Xuan Yuzhai would not have to leave.”
Suddenly, Zhang Hongdi fixed his gaze and interrupted him, “Look!”
The fight between Lin Huai and Dao Zi had taken a turn. Lin Huai evolved from defense into offense. He suddenly grabbed Dao Zi’s wrist and nobody could tell how he did it. His arm remained tangled with Dao Zi’s wrist and Dao Zi could not free himself matter what.
Dao Zi’s expression changed. He flipped his arm and grabbed Lin Huai’s wrist. In an instant, Lin Huai followed suit and mimicked his actions. The two of them repeated this motion and their quick moves stunned everyone who was watching.
They both wanted to control their opponents’ arm. Their movements picked up speed and the bystanders’ jaws dropped. Eventually, Dao Zi reached his limit and decided to stab Lin Huai’s wrist. Lin Huai smiled casually and held onto Dao Zi’s wrist again. He twisted hard and Dao Zi groaned before dropping his dagger on the floor.
Dao Zi’s facial expression turned icy. He dropped his shoulders, lowered his head, and forcefully smashed his head into Lin Huai’s chest. Lin Huai took the hard hit and staggered a few steps back, breathing heavily.
Dao Zi was not in good shape either. As a result of that move, his head felt dizzy, and it took some time to recover.
Lin Huai said angrily, “Dude, you trained in Tie Tou Gong[1] before?”
He remembered that Dao Zi had previously utilized the same move. As a result of that, Lin Huai’s head had hurt for a few days. This time round, Dao Zi smashed into his chest. This dude would do anything to gain victory.
As expected, Dao Zi kept quiet and immediately picked his dagger off the floor. He rushed over with even greater strength and speed. He leveled up his fighting and gave Lin Huai a huge shock. Lin Huai stepped aside and barely dodged the strike. Then, he kicked Dao Zi away.
“You lost!”
Dao Zi flew far away and rolled on the floor. He struggled to get up. Upon hearing Lin Huai’s words, he was desolated. With a heavy heart, he announced, “I lost!”
Lin Huai heaved a sigh of relief. Dao Zi was much more capable than Wei Qimian’s two bodyguards. It was hard to imagine such a skillful person hidden away in this college. However, Lin Huai had an eye for talents and wanted to test Dao Zi’s skills. Otherwise, he would have not taken so long to defeat Dao Zi.
Lin Huai smiled. “From today onward, you are mine.”
“Yes.” Upon saying that, Dao Zi dashed away, quick as lighting. He rushed toward Zhang Chunlei’s henchmen and stabbed Zhang Heng in the abdomen.
Zhang Heng was stunned. Both he and Dao Zi were Zhang Chunlei’s red canes. He did not expect Dao Zi to switch sides so easily. He felt his body turn cold and he started trembling. He even wet his pants. Am… am I going to die?
Zhang Chunlei did not expect Dao Zi to do that. He also froze. Everyone around them were stunned as well. They stared at the scene ahead with their jaws dropped.
Zhang Hongdi—who was watching from afar—stood up and shouted, “Damn! No wonder our boss told us not to mess with Zhang Chunlei. Dao Zi, his lieutenant, is a lunatic!”
Zhang Chunlei shouted furiously, “Dao Zi, are you f*cking crazy?”
Dao Zi replied coldly, “Big Lei, I am no longer your red cane. Furthermore, I found out that you were the one who sent the thugs sourced from outside the college to pester my little sister. You beat them up only as a charade. The goal was to rub it in my face.”
“What… what did you say?”
Dao Zi said with ice in his words, “When I arrived, I saw what happened. After that, I hunted the thugs down myself and stabbed one of them. They eventually told me the truth.”
Zhang Chunlei’s expression changed. He was both shocked and furious. “Then why did you remain my henchman for such a long time?”
“Because I hate owing anyone a debt of gratitude. Furthermore, my little sister had no idea what actually happened, and I did not want her to realize how scary and cunning society actually is.” From these few sentences, everyone could tell that Dao Zi loved his little sister very much.
Dao Zi turned his head around and glared at Zhang Chunlei. His gaze was as sharp as needles. It pierced right through Zhang Chunlei’s heart. With an icy tone, Dao Zi said, “You are no longer my brother. I stabbed Zhang Heng and not you. Consider that a sign of affection from me.”
Zhang Chunlei was in disbelief. He had always thought Dao Zi to be stupid. He assumed a simple act was enough to toy with Dao Zi and gain his trust and loyalty. As it turned out, Dao Zi was a lot smarter than he thought.
Zhang Chunlei took an involuntary step back from Dao Zi’s stare. Then, he thought of the fact that he had over a hundred people with him. Why did he need to be afraid? Even though Dao Zi and Lin Huai were very scary, there were only two of them. As for Pu Chengji and the rest of their group, they were all useless people. If he did not remain victorious today, he would not be able to maintain a foothold in this college.
Zhang Chunlei roared furiously, “Brothers, let’s go! Wipe them out! As long as nobody dies, whatever happens is on me!”
