Chapter 42 Facing Off Dao Zi Again
Lin Huai’s speech was like an oath—an oath that shocked all the big shots in the computer science major. However, this brought out the passion of his dormitory mates.
Hu Zhiqiang was furious. “Lin Huai, don’t mess around! The college will handle this incident. Get back to your classroom now!”
“The college will handle this?” Lin Huai’s gaze was as sharp as a knife. Lin Huai questioned the trembling Hu Zhiqiang, “Teacher Pu was almost raped. Then, she almost killed herself! How is the college going to handle this? Expel all the relevant students? Even if you expel these students, there are many more of them around. What good would that be?”
Hu Zhiqiang was annoyed at how stubborn Lin Huai was. “Lin Huai, I admit that you are a good and thoughtful student. Think about it, no matter what you say, what can we do? For lack of a better word, we became teachers because we had dreams. However, under such circumstances, what else can we do? Did you not see what happened to Teacher Pu?”
Hu Zhiqiang’s expression changed and his facial muscles were twitching. Usually, as a teacher, he would not have said such things in public. Especially not when surrounded by students. Although everyone knew about the state of this college, it was one thing to discuss it privately and another to talk about it in public. One could only imagine the amount of criticism Hu Zhiqiang would receive during the faculty meeting.
Hu Zhiqiang caught his breath and looked at Lin Huai. He asked, “We all have a family to feed. We have our wives and kids waiting for us back home. Do you want all of us to end up like Teacher Pu?”
Lin Huai shut his eyes and thought of the moment he rushed into the female toilet. There were a few girls surrounding Teacher Pu and consoling her. She was curled up in the corner and was trembling in fear. When he hugged her tight, she was still shuddering and could not even complete a proper sentence. Her clothes were also drenched with sweat.
Lin Huai sighed. “It is because all the teachers and staff turn a blind eye to such things that the college turned out this way. I blame myself for this incident, but I have to say that the real culprit is not me but each and every one of you. Teacher, I can understand how you feel and that the only thing on your mind is making a living to feed your family. However, shouldn’t you all think of the dream that pushed you to become a teacher? Are you all willing to live a life apart from your dreams? Aren’t you all upset?”
All the teachers kept quiet, including Hu Zhiqiang.
Lin Huai said, “I can close an eye about other things but at the very least, things cannot stay the same for the computer science major. Teachers, I know you all have your own problems and concerns as a teacher. However, it’s different for me. I am going to be the leader of the computer science major and everyone must listen to me. Whoever has bad conduct during lessons will have to answer to me!”
Hu Zhiqiang shouted, “Lin Huai, are you mad?”
“Yes.” Lin Huai grinned. “I am crazy!”
Lin Huai walked toward the second classroom. Then, two students came out and looked fearfully at him. They said, “Big Lei does belong to our class but he’s not in at the moment. He is playing football on the field!”
“Alright!” Lin Huai smiled. “I will head over to the field!”
Lin Huai walked toward the stairwell and everyone moved aside in awe. Hu Zhiqiang was the only one trying to stop him. Lin Huai solemnly said, “I do not wish to lay my hands on a teacher.”
Hu Zhiqiang hesitated and eventually stopped. He looked at a student from his class and said, “Go! Get the security guards to head to the field.”
The student acknowledged and ran off in a hurry.
A colleague next to Hu Zhiqiang whispered, “Teacher Hu, I think your student is right. However, he is too idealistic. Trying to change the entire computer science major on his own? How is that possible? He is probably going to be in big trouble now that he is planning to challenge Zhang Chunlei.”
A few teachers sighed. In fact, Lin Huai’s speech did touch their hearts and surfaced their sentiments. However, they did not dare to change how things were.
Hu Zhiqiang ran into the female toilet and saw that Pu Yingxue was still trembling in fear. With an aching heart, he said, “Teacher Pu, do you need me to get an ambulance for you?”
Wei Qimian said, “I don’t think that’s necessary. However, she should get herself checked up in a hospital. I shall accompany Teacher Pu there.”
Wei Qimian helped Pu Yingxue stand up. She whispered, “Teacher Pu, let me bring you to the hospital, alright?”
“It’s okay, there’s no need for now…” Pu Yingxue still looked out of shape, but she had stopped crying. She freed herself from Wei Qimian and staggered toward the stairway. Wei Qimian ran over in a hurry and supported Pu Yingxue who had almost collapsed. She asked, “Teacher Pu, what are you trying to do?”
“I am going to look for Lin Huai. I have to stop him from doing silly things.” Pu Yingxue was in a panic. “These are not matters he should get involved in. The students responsible are not good people and not to be messed with. I cannot let him get into trouble because of me.”
Everyone was touched. Nobody thought that Pu Yingxue would be thinking of other people despite her fear.
Wei Qimian sighed. “Teacher Pu, you are such a nice person. However, you have a huge cut on your forehead. I should bring you to apply medicine. Shall we at least head to the college infirmary?”
“I have to go and stop them from fighting first,” Pu Yingxue insisted.
Wei Qimian turned around and looked at Hu Zhiqiang and the other teachers. Hu Zhiqiang nodded and said, “Teacher Pu’s personality has always been like this. Let’s head over together.”
“Alright then,” Wei Qimian said. “Teacher, let me help you.”
They left the teaching building together. Wei Qimian was also worried. She knew that Lin Huai had skills that usual students could not compete with. However, one person could not match a group of people, just like her bodyguards who were brought down by a group of people only a few nights ago—Lin Huai had to interfere to resolve the situation in the end. Now, Lin Huai was headed there alone and the few students with him were of no help.
Lin Huai had already brought his people out of the building and arrived at the football field. Zhang Chunlei—who was playing football—realized that Lin Huai was looking for him. He stopped in his tracks. Zhang Heng also stopped and walked over to Lin Huai. He stared viciously at Lin Huai. In his eyes, the only reason he previously lost to Lin Huai was his carelessness.
Zhang Heng whistled. The students playing football, as well as more than a dozen other students nearby grouped up and surrounded him.
“Seems impressive!” Lin Huai smiled. He walked over with his hands in his pockets.
Wu Jun, Pu Chengji, and the others gulped. They had an unknown fear of the seniors in the college. However, they thought of the oath they made. Since they were already in the same boat as Lin Huai, all of them followed suit and walked over nervously.
Lin Huai was already one meter away from Zhang Chunlei. They had roughly fifteen guys on their side whereas Lin Huai had only six on his side, including himself. They were Pu Chengji, Wu Jun, Wu Mengjie, Fan Hanning, and Zhuang Bifan.
At this moment, a few more students ran over from afar. They ran over and stood behind Zhang Heng. Zhang Heng had more than twenty students with him and all of them looked sturdy and bulky. They had three times the amount of people Lin Huai had with him.
“What are you all doing?” A cold, icy voice rang from behind Lin Huai. Everyone shuddered. An ordinary looking guy with a plain haircut walked over. Although he looked ordinary, he had an extraordinary vibe. He was not tall and big—only 1.72 meters tall. However, he gave off the vibe of a sharp knife, ready to pierce anyone he pleased.
Wu Mengjie’s teeth began to chatter. In a trembling voice, he said, “Dao… Dao… Dao Zi.”
The man that walked over was Dao Zi, Zhang Chunlei’s strongest ‘red cane’.
Dao Zi glanced at everyone, and his gaze eventually landed on Lin Huai. He asked, “You wish to lay your hands on Brother Lei?”
“Yes!” Lin Huai admitted right off the bat, surprising Zhang Chunlei. He thought Lin Huai was here for a discussion with him. He had not expected Lin Huai to actually have plans to lay hands on him.
Zhang Chunlei grinned hideously. “Boy, I was going to let you enjoy your life for a few more days. Yet, you came here looking for death. From today onward, I will remove your name from this college!”
The people behind Zhang Chunlei chanted and scolded. Their aura and presence had already subdued Lin Huai and his people.
Dao Zi, on the other hand, did not exude the confidence that Zhang Chunlei did. He used his usual icy cold stare and asked probingly, “Must you?”
“I have to lay my hands on him.”
“Okay!” Out of nowhere, Dao Zi produced a dagger. In a cold voice, he said, “If you win this round, I will no longer interfere with you. Also, I promise to cut ties with Big Lei from today onward.”
Zhang Chunlei was shocked. He solemnly said, “Dao Zi!”
Dao Zi replied, “Big Lei, I owe you a debt of gratitude. However, if not for me, people from the sports major would have long laid their hands on you. I have already repaid your favors. This time around, regardless of the outcome, consider it my repayment interest to you.”
Zhang Chunlei was not willing to let go. Yet, he knew Dao Zi had no reason to help him for such a long time. Thus, he gritted his teeth and said, “Fine!”
Dao Zi looked at Lin Huai and said, “I owe you a debt of gratitude as well. You helped me resolve my mental problems and helped me realize that I am not a psycho. Therefore, this time around, no matter the outcome, I will also do you a favor.”
Lin Huai smiled. “This bet is not exactly fair.”
“How so?”
Lin Huai said, “You are trying to stab me with your dagger. If I win, I have to let Zhang Chunlei go. If I lose, what do I gain? Don’t tell me that you will grant me a favor. That favor was repayment for my previous help. Don’t tell me the bet this time around is only for you to take advantage of me? And if I win, there is nothing to gain?”
Dao Zi thought for a while and said, “You have a point.”
Lin Huai smiled. “If I win, you can combine your previous debt of gratitude with this one and repay me in one go. I don’t want you to grant me a favor. I want you to help me deal with many things. You may hang around me and my brothers.”
Lin Huai actually wanted to win over Dao Zi’s support. After all, even after the mission, he could still keep Dao Zi by his side. Dao Zi was a dangerous person. If there was no one to mentor and keep him in check, he would become a real danger.
Dao Zi coldly replied, “Alright, I agree. In that case, let’s start!”
All of a sudden, Dao Zi held out his dagger and rushed over. Lin Huai was shocked. Dao Zi was a lot faster, stronger, and more powerful this time round. There was no hesitation, and he gave no chances. He took a stab at Lin Huai’s abdomen.
