Chapter 25 Lin Huai’s Arrogance
All of a sudden, Lin Huai stopped moving as he reached the stairwell, and just stood there without further advancing. Everyone heaved a sigh of relief, while a portion of the crowd also felt disappointed that Lin Huai was afraid to walk up.
Feng Jingnan also heaved a long sigh of relief. As a dormitory management administrator, he was not afraid of Zhang Chunlei, the top dog on the second floor. However, for him, the less hassle the better, more so when the pattern in the computer science major had already been structured that way. He didn’t want any more conflicts to arise.
With a grin on his face, Feng Jingnan said, “Yeah, since he does not appear to be in any critical danger, it is better to save trouble.”
Lin Huai didn’t respond to any of them and just stared at the door in the dormitory lobby. Everyone followed and glanced across feeling confused. In less than two seconds, sirens from an ambulance could be heard from afar. The ambulance stopped outside the door and a bunch of nurses ran in from the outside with a stretcher.
Lin Huai walked upstairs feeling at ease after seeing Wang Hongwei carried away.
Feng Jingnan was perplexed and the expression on his face changed. Did Lin Huai hear the noise of the ambulance? When no one else could hear anything, he heard it beforehand?
What kind of sharp ears did he have?!
Yet, what really made Feng Jingnan look so dignified was the fact that Lin Huai had already walked upstairs. These few days, he heard a lot of stories between this transfer student and Big Lei, as well as Second Lei. Feng Jingnan could foresee tonight being exciting, that it would be the horrible end of Lin Huai. This was undoubtable, but at the same time though, there could be a few casualties upstairs as well.
Wu Jun, Wu Mengjie, Fan Hanning and the rest of them had a ghastly look on their face. After some hesitation, they still could not find the courage to go upstairs. Not that they were disloyal, but rather, rushing up at this point in time had no difference from putting one’s head in the noose.
However, they were all touched by Lin Huai’s actions. For Wang Hongwei whom he barely knew for a few days, he was willing to deep into the tiger’s den. All they could do was pray in their hearts, hoping that Lin Huai could come back down safely in one piece.
Lin Huai walked up one step at a time to the second floor, and by then there was already a small crowd near the corridor. It was unavoidable as the commotion downstairs had grappled them by shock, but most of the students were still in the dormitory rooms and yet to come out.
Just as Lin Huai arrived on the second floor, everyone in the corridor had their eyes on him. All of them stared at him gloomily, similar to how hunters looked at prey, ready to pounce anytime.
Lin Huai glanced back at them with no fear in his eyes, and realized the group of people he was looking for was not here. Thus, Lin Huai walked to the first dormitory room and knocked on the door. However, there was zero movement and complete silence from within. Six to seven seniors in the corridor were crossing their arms and enjoying the show. They wanted to see how Lin Huai would react if the door was not opened. In their opinions, he would never break into the room unless he was crazy.
Lin Huai knocked twice on the door. When he saw that there was no movement from within, he calmly and casually said, “I am going to count to three, and if no one opens the door, I am going to kick the door open.”
Everyone was shocked.
Without hesitation, Lin Huai counted, “One.”
“Two.”
“Three.”
Lin Huai took a step back and breathed in heavily while getting ready to kick down the door. All of a sudden, the door opened from inside. A few guys stood inside and all of them had their eyes fixed on Lin Huai.
Lin Huai gently spat out a sigh of relief. If they had not opened the door, he would have to really kick the door down. However, that would have caused a huge brawl to occur.
Facing these students, Lin Huai had no problem escaping unharmed. Yet, that would have resulted in his strengths being exposed thoroughly, and if that was the case, Wei Qimian would start suspecting something was amiss. That would cause unnecessary troubles in the process of protecting her. For example, if Wei Qimian knew the actual identity of himself, would she be resistant toward him?
At this point in time, it would be the best if I could avoid completely exposing my strengths.
Lin Huai walked in and glanced across the room. After walking out, he could feel that the few seniors inside were giving him icy stares right from the beginning. Nonetheless, he was indifferent about the situation as he deduced it was probably the fact that he taught Zhang Heng a lesson previously. These students were probably still in fear of himself. If it was someone else, they would probably be beaten up and dragged out of the room.
Lin Huai walked to the second dormitory room right after that. Similarly, he knocked on the door, walked in and had a quick glance around, then walked back out.
Facial expressions on the students who were enjoying the show within the corridor changed. They were instructed by Zhang Chunlei that they were not to clash directly with Lin Huai and not to blow things up. This was the reason why nobody actually took action. At the same time, they felt that the prestige of seniors would have been sufficient to make Lin Huai tremble in fear. Who would have thought that Lin Huai could be so calm and collected while walking toward each and every room, as if he was just taking a stroll through his backyard garden, completely fearless and unafraid of anything.
Lin Huai also figured out that if this was as per usual cases, he would have been beaten and thrown out of here. At the very least, a huge fight would have been inevitable. Tonight, though, was different as Wang Hongwei was almost killed by a blunt weapon. The matter was neither too severe nor too trivial as it depended on the situation. If the matter was under control, it might not be serious at all. However if the matter was uncontrolled, it would result in jail time for at least a couple of days. Therefore, not wanting this matter to continue brewing, Zhang Chunlei ordered his brothers to hold their emotions in.
As a result of this, it benefitted Lin Huai tonight as he could strut around the dormitory as he wished.
As expected, Lin Huai strolled idly and checked into five to six rooms, as though he was merely having a casual walk. He even checked on the room that Zhang Heng was residing in. As Lin Huai walked in, Zhang Heng was staring viciously at him and was getting ready to rough him up but he ultimately held himself back. Lin Huai gave him a slight scorn and walked out.
As Lin Huai came out in one piece, the people in the corridor started discussing, “Oh my god, he is not even afraid of Zhang Heng!”
“Yeah, what is so surprising about that? He has even knocked Zhang Heng out previously.”
“That is also true. This transfer student is really amazing, completely fearless.”
“Hehe, Big Lei ordered us to give in to him tonight first. He would get punished after a few days.”
“You are right, this is too arrogant of him. Since Yu Lan College was founded, I had not heard of a newcomer having the audacity to knock on every single door of seniors. Isn’t this suicidal?”
“This guy’s courage is really huge…. ”
Lin Huai didn’t bother with what they were discussing and continued on walking to the next door. Once again, he knocked on the door, and this time there was no movement from within. He then banged the door harder, shouting, “Whoever is inside, listen up! You have three seconds to open the door, or I am going to barge in.”
“One.”
“Two.”
“Three.”
This was the first room that did not give any respect to Lin Huai and refused to open the door. Everyone in the corridor had their eyes wide open, gloating over Lin Huai’s predicament. They wanted to see if Lin Huai had the guts to put his words into action.
Lin Huai took a step back and kicked out violently. The door that was locked was kicked open with a loud bang. The lock on the door broke and fell to the ground. The rest of the group, who was enjoying the show, had their eyes pop out of their head. On one hand, they were stunned by the bravery of Lin Huai, and on the other, they were bewildered by his strength.
Lin Huai took a step in, and saw that there were some people sitting down; some were lying in their bed, while the others were standing in the room giving him icy stares. Even so, Lin Huai had no fear. After taking a glance across the room, he suddenly grabbed the hair of a student—the student who was lying down on the topside of a bunk bed with his back facing Lin Huai—and dragged him violently. With a loud scream, the student fell onto the ground.
One by one, the rest of the people in the room immediately grabbed onto wooden sticks that were prepared beforehand. They rushed over and surrounded Lin Huai in the center.
