“Knox, let go of me. My sister could find out.”
“Isn’t it fine if we just whisper?”
“I’m saying that my sister can wake up any second now.”
My sister’s sleeping face filled with fatigue flashed across my mind, but I ignored it. Even though I knew that my sister usually never sleeps that deeply.
“Are you worried that you’d get caught by your sister?”
As I flicked my eyes here and there, I nodded my head. He tilted his head before giving a low whisper.
“… So, I can do anything I want as long as we don’t get caught?”4
Mister, I think I’ve just heard the most dangerous words come out of your mouth.10
It was obvious that Knox did not know what the word ‘anything’ entailed. Flabbergasted by what this man said, I became dazed. But I quickly came to my senses and moved away from his face.
“What do you mean ‘anything’? What the hell are you thinking of doing to me?”
“Are you curious?”2
“…”
No. I’m not curious.
It felt like if I had nodded my head then, I would’ve been trapped in a hell within this room—behind the door while hidden by the curtains.
Since I’ve been trying not to cross boundaries this whole night, I looked down. But I came face to face with his bare chest which made this even more difficult for me. Under the moonlight, the curves around his defined muscles were accentuated, subtly emitting heat.
Let’s not panic right now. I can’t look panicked in front of him. As I rolled up the hem of my clothes, I forced out my voice which ended up sounding awkward.
“Shall we stop and go to sleep now? Well, it’s getting very late. We should sleep now.”
He kept quiet but after holding me tighter, he moved.
“… What about your permission?”
He sounds scary. No, I won’t give you permission. I will never.2
As I shrank under his gaze, I shook my head limply. I slipped out of his hands before I said.
“I’m sleeping in my sister’s bedroom, remember? I have to go now.”
Deciding that we shouldn’t get any closer than this, I slowly pushed my butt backwards as I spoke.
Actually, my sister, who worked hard at fighting the monsters, might have been sleeping peacefully without even knowing that I left. But I don’t think I should tell Knox that. Because the purple eyes that continue to stare at me so persistently were captivating me.1
“Why are you avoiding me? I haven’t done anything.”
But judging by your gaze, mister, it feels like you’re about to do something.
For a moment, his gaze turned cold. But instead of being directed towards me, it felt like he was looking at something else.
I realised that he was staring at my sister’s room. The purple eyes of the man, whose hands I was holding onto tightly, looked like a beast just before he jumps on his prey.
“If you say so.”4
It was simply one sentence yet why was I getting goose bumps? I recalled Knox’s Crazy Grand Duke image in the novel.
Knox gave a low laugh.
“Since your sister is sleeping right now, can’t you just sleep here?”
Did Knox remember something? How could a person’s persona suddenly change like that? His memories couldn’t have come back right?
No, that can’t be. I must have been overthinking this. Couldn’t it just have been his habits from back when he was the Crazy Grand Duke popping up instinctively?
That’s right. His memories will only come back later in the future. When the Crown Prince comes to attack and after experiencing a great shock, in other words, my sister’s death.
Breathless, he called my name. My name sounded strange coming out of his mouth.
“… You make me wish I could spend all of my time at night.”
Looking at me, Knox told me the truth sincerely.
“I don’t want to get my memories back.”
